The challenge

A busy site that had outgrown its page builder

Tom Aikens is one of the UK’s best-known chefs. His website covers a lot of ground: restaurants including Muse, recipes, news, press, consultancy, events such as the Culinary Creators Series and a shop for gift vouchers and cookbooks. It had been built with a page builder, and Tom’s team wanted to move away from it without changing the site visitors knew.

The approach

A like-for-like rebuild, checked element by element

We rebuilt the site on our block-based WordPress theme, page by page, keeping the design exactly as it was. Every page was checked against the original at four screen sizes before it went live. We also built the website for Muse, Tom’s restaurant.

The result

The same site, simpler to run

Visitors see the site they know, and Tom’s team edits it without the page builder. Restaurants, recipes, events and the shop all run from one place, ready for whatever Tom does next.

Highlights

What makes it work

  • Recipes to cook at home

A recipe library visitors can filter, with ingredients and method laid out clearly.

  • A shop on the same site

Gift vouchers and cookbooks sold through WooCommerce, alongside the newsletter sign-up.

  • Rebuilt without the page builder

A like-for-like rebuild, checked element by element against the old site before it went live.
